The members of this group started volunteering for the Rockhampton Regional Council at Archer Park Station in 1992. After several name changes, they became the Friends of Archer Park Station & Steam Tram Museum Inc. in 2004. In 2014 they accepted the offer of a contract from Rockhampton Regional Council to operate the Museum and the Association is now responsible for all Museum and Rail operations at the facility.
Our Volunteers group is made up of Members of the Association as well direct volunteers, Centrelink workers and also a Work for the Dole project. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, including the local rail community.
The duties carried out on behalf of Rockhampton Regional Council include: restoring and maintaining the collection; Tram and Rollingstock Crew; Tour Guides, Ticket Officer, Refreshment Room Staff, Cleaners, Gardeners, Office helpers and many more fun and interesting jobs.
The Museum has a paid Coordinator, employed by the “Friends” to manage rail safety compliance and supervise all daily operations, and a Management Committee.
General meetings of the Friends will normally be at the Museum at 12:30 pm on the fourth Wednesday of every month.
We welcome your support and donations.
